BIR World Recycling Convention & Exhibition in Miami (1-4 June 2014)

Stainless Steel & Special Alloys Committee: Tuesday, 3 June 2014 at 09.30: Key players of the global stainless steel scrap processing industry engage in ‘fireside chat’

The Stainless Steel Plenary Session of BIR’s World Recycling Convention and Exhibition in Miami promises some useful insight to deal with the business and geopolitical uncertainties impacting global markets.

Simon Merrills is President and CEO of ELG Metals, Inc. (USA) and heads the US ELG Group, which is part of ELG Haniel GmbH, a global market leading company for the trading and processing of raw materials for the stainless steel industry with more than forty operational locations worldwide.

Paul Gielen represents Cronimet as European Sales Manager with incisive knowledge from his many years in the stainless steel business. Cronimet is a leading supplier of raw materials for the industrial production of stainless steel with 56 subsidiaries, partnerships and representative offices.

These representatives of the two top international scrap processors and suppliers will present the current situation in their regions and future outlook of the global stainless steel market on Tuesday, 3 June 2014, at 9:30 a.m. at BIR’s 2014 World Recycling Convention.

Following their presentations, both speakers have accepted – as a unique feature – to participate in an informal ‘fireside chat’ that will be moderated by Barry Hunter of Hunter Alloys (USA) and board member of the Stainless Steel & Special Alloys Committee.

“I expect Simon’s and Paul’s expert views to prompt some lively questions from the audience,” says Mark Sellier, interim Chairman of the Stainless Steel & Special Alloys Committee. “This should stimulate debate during the plenary and afterwards as convention delegates network and socialize.”
