For the upcoming World Recycling Convention in Miami, the BIR Non-Ferrous Metals Division under the presidency of Bob Stein (Alter Trading, USA) offers a programme that puts emphasis on business in Latin America, a key region for recent & expected world economic growth, with guest speakers from Brazil and Mexico giving a general economic overview with a special focus on copper and aluminium.
At the meeting scheduled for Monday, 2 June 2014 at 14.30, the following industry experts will address the audience:
Luis Fernando de Souza is Raw Materials Corporate Manager for Paranapanema SA - the largest producer of refined copper and semi-elaborated products of copper and its alloys in Brazil. He has more than 15 years of experience in the copper segment. In his presentation he will give an overview of the Brazilian market for copper scrap. Paranapanema is the country's biggest copper recycler owning 4 industrial plants, including the only smelter in Brazil responsible for 94% of domestically refined copper production.
The second industry expert who will take the floor is Alejandro Jaramillo of Glorem SC, a Mexico-based service provider for the international recycling industry, mainly focusing on trading, agency, training and consulting. Alejandro represents the second generation of his family to work in Mexico’s recycling industry. His 25+ years of international experience of the industry, combined with his unique exposure to the automotive and beverage sectors, have enabled him to help consumers to expand their use of scrap metal in their operations, as well as to help Latin American yards to grow and diversify their exports.
