BIR Paper Division honours APL
Exporting recovered paper around the globe requires the expertise of many different partners. In recognition of the importance of the role played by shipping companies, the Paper Division of the BIR world recycling organisation has awarded its latest Papyrus Prize to APL – the container transportation specialist offering services to approaching 100 ports around the world.
The award was presented to Mr Siew Loong Wong, Vice President – Europe Asia Trade Services of APL Singapore at the BIR Annual General Assembly in Singapore on May 24. The ceremony was conducted by Paper Division President Ranjit Baxi, newly-installed BIR World President Björn Grufman and his immediate predecessor Dominique Maguin.
Mr Baxi said the shipping industry invested very heavily in providing its services and was an invaluable partner. APL deserved the Papyrus Prize, he added, for its global services and good partnership with the paper recycling industry.
The Papyrus Prize is awarded twice each year in ceremonies held at BIR’s Spring and Autumn Conventions. These recognise individuals as well as companies and organisations for their services to the paper recycling industry.
