Dear Delegate / Dear BIR Member,
You should under no circumstance miss the Keynote Session on Thursday, 31 May 2012 at 12.00 noon, one of the highlight events of the 2012 BIR World Recycling Convention & Exhibition at the Rome Cavalieri Hotel!
For the first time, a Senior Investment Analyst of The Financial Times will be sharing his insider knowledge with the international recycling industry and tell us what’s going on in the global economy right now and which economic repercussions the current Eurozone crisis is likely to trigger off worldwide.
Mr John Authers serves as FT’s main commentator on international markets. In this role, he has become one of the world’s most influential financial journalists, with by-lined columns on display pages of the FT five days each week.

For years he was the FT’s principal commentator on markets and investments. Until recently the author of its influential "Short View" column, he now writes the weekly "Long View" column.
John speaks worldwide, and appears frequently on major US and global media, including BBC, CNN, MSNBC, NPR, and PBS. He is a major presence on the internet, where he writes for ft.com, and appears in numerous videos on YouTube and elsewhere discussing the financial issues of the day.
Mr Authers is the recipient of many journalistic awards. He was recently honored as the UK’s Investment Journalist of the Year for his ft.com coverage of the early days of the financial crisis. The Victim’s Fortune, co-authered with Richard Wolffe, earned the prestigious Best of Knight-Bagehot Award. In the US his videos have twice been honoured at the Society of American Business Editors and Writers’ Best in Business awards.
The Keynote Session will take place immediately after the BIR General Annual Assembly, during which BIR President Björn Grufman and the Executive Committee will give updates on the general situation of our world organisation.
