PRESIDENT'S OPENING REMARKS

Dear colleagues,
As your new divisional President, I would like to begin by wishing everyone a very prosperous and abundant New Year. With the New Year, there will no doubt be new hurdles we will face as an industry. Nevertheless, I believe we can all agree that we will continue to seize and overcome these challenges one by one during the course of the year.
As we reflect on the events of 2014, we saw a huge increase in Chinese semi-finished and finished steel exports into consuming markets that were generally large ferrous scrap importers. Many of us were breathing a sigh of relief when, as of January 1, the Chinese government removed the export rebate for boron-added steel products; however, we now see billets with other additive elements like chrome being traded, and so perhaps the export volumes may not see much, if any, decrease (...)
