BIR World Mirror on Non-Ferrous Metals - April 2011
Copper - The New Gold?
I’ve attended many copper conferences in my career, and all too often after the proceedings I’m left with the “well what does that mean to the copper scrap side of the industry” feeling. Secondary copper and brass play a vital role in the supply chain, but because it’s an industry that is so dynamic and opaque, less is reported on it than on its primary counterpart.
That’s about to change. On the morning of Tuesday May 24, as part of the BIR Spring Convention in Singapore, the Non-Ferrous Metals Division is pleased to announce our Copper Symposium. Entitled “Copper - The New Gold?”, speakers will present on a number of diverse issues that have driven the markets to where they are today. By study of various supply and demand points, including Europe, China and the USA, speakers will address issues relevant to the copper scrap industry. Presenters include: secondary smelters; an investment house; a journalist; a scrap dealer/processor; and an international study focus group.
There is no charge for the Symposium for Convention registrants. I hope to see you all there.
