BIR World Mirror on Non-Ferrous Metals
A final few words….
This marks my last contribution to the Mirror as President of the BIR Non-Ferrous Metals Division. With our World Convention in Paris, I have chosen to step down a few months before my final term of one year expires. This will make the transition to a new leadership easier as David Chiao advances from his Senior Vice President post to serve the very short balance of my term.
It has been a pleasure serving as President these past seven-plus years. As an industry, we were faced with very difficult circumstances that took us from expanding markets to shrinking ones in a very short time. Recoveries, where they did indeed occur, were slower in coming, impeded by economic implications and extraneous factors over which we have little or no control.
I close by thanking those Board members with whom I have served over the past many years, as well as the members of the Secretariat in Brussels for their ongoing hard work and support.
