BIR World Mirror on Stainless Steel & Special Alloys - May 2012

Dear friends and colleagues,

it is my pleasure to present this BIR Stainless Steel World Mirror prior to our Spring Convention in Rome. The BIR Stainless Steel & Special Alloys Committee is pleased to announce Pascal Payet-Gaspard, Secretary General of the International Stainless Steel Forum (ISSF), will be the guest speaker at our Stainless Steel & Special Alloys Plenary Meeting. The ISSF is a non-profit research organisation which serves as a global forum on many aspects of the international stainless steel industry.

I am sure Pascal will enlighten us on the most recent statistics and expectations regarding our industry. In addition, our board members will present the usual market reports, which will mainly be based on the information included in this Stainless Steel World Mirror, but with any necessary updates.

Since our October meeting in Munich, we have continued to experience good demand for our raw materials, and in general business still continues on a short-term supply and demand basis...
