BIR World Recycling Convention (Round-Table Sessions) Prague, (25) 26-27 October 2015:
Non-Ferrous Metals Division: “Guest presentations shed light on zinc and lead recycling in Eastern Europe”
The BIR Non-Ferrous Metals Division under the presidency of David Chiao of Uni-All Group (USA) will be putting the Eastern European recycling markets in the focus of their plenary meeting on Monday, 26 October 2015 at 14.00 in Prague.
The first guest speaker of the session will be Mr Marek Orlicz of MetalCo, a producer of secondary zinc and zinc die casting alloys based in Katowice, Poland. MetalCo was established in 1990, specializing in trading and recycling of zinc residues. Due to its qualified personnel, innovative solutions and support from the Polish Technological University the company has developed a unique know-how that makes them on of the leading producers of high quality secondary zinc and zinc die casting alloys in Poland and the world. Mr Orlicz has been with the company for 15 years and is their Commercial Director responsible for purchasing raw materials and product sales.
The title of his presentation is: “Zinc recycling in Eastern Europe - current trends and future opportunities”.
The second guest speaker, who is also from Poland, will focus on the Eastern European lead market. Mr Marek Zelazny is Commercial Director of Baterpol S.A, one of the biggest lead producers in Poland. Their core business involves the recycling of used lead-acid batteries as well as the production and processing of refined lead and lead alloys. The company was founded in 1996 and has two plants in Katowice and Świętochłowice. The use of state-of-the-art technology ensures the ecological recycling of batteries in accordance with national and EU legislation. Mr Zelazny has been with the company since 2012 and is in charge of purchasing commodities/raw materials and sales.
The title of his presentation is: “History of lead production and current technology of lead-acid batteries recycling in Poland/Eastern Europe”.
Moreover, the session will provide insight into some of the challenges and opportunities that the current volatile and shifting market dynamics offer. It will also feature the latest market reports from across the globe prepared by the Divisional board members, which will be made available in the printed version of the Division’s monthly publication BIR World Mirror on Non-Ferrous Metals.
