Brussels branch of German political foundation visits BIR with trade delegation from India and Latin America

Meeting Konrad AdenauerOn 10 September, the Brussels office of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, one of the most influential political foundations in the European capital, visited the BIR office with a trade delegation from India and Latin America. Established in 1955 as “Society for Christian-Democratic Civic Education”, the Foundation took on the name of the first Federal Chancellor in 1964. Their mission is to ensure peace, freedom and justice through political education, both nationally and internationally. They promote and support liberal democracy, the social market economy and the development and consolidation of value consensus.

In the framework of the Foundation’s Multinational Development Policy Dialogue (MDPD), a one-week study dialogue program on “Circular Plastics Economy – Best Practice Options for a Global Challenge” included six administrative experts from Asia and Latin America who are, in particular, dealing with the challenges of introducing, in their respective countries, a Circular Economy as well as the avoidance, usage, reusability, recycling and deposition of plastics. BIR, represented by Henk Alssema, Chairman of the BIR Plastics Committee, BIR Director General Arnaud Brunet and Communications Director Elisabeth Christ, gave a presentation on BIR’s history and mission and answered a number of questions raised by the delegation.
