China to impose a tariff on 333 categories of US products on 23rd August 2018

The Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced yesterday that China will impose an import tariff of 25% on commodities imported from the United States, including chemicals, crude oil, diesel, bikes and cars, medical equipment, energy products and all wastes/scraps listed in the annexed “List of tariff items for the United States” :

The Ministry's announcement came after the Office of the US Trade Representative announced on Wednesday (Beijing time) it will collect 25 percent tariffs on an additional US$16 billion in Chinese imports as from 23 August, and China will therefore implement the tariff measure with the US simultaneously, according to a statement released by the Ministry.
