European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) concludes that the level of concern for players, including children on artificial sports pitches of recycled rubber is very low
The results of ECHA's preliminary evaluation that the concern for players on these pitches, including children, and for workers who install and maintain them is very low were published 28th February 2017.
These results follow from the June 2016 European Commission request to the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) in Helsinki, Finland to carry out a preliminary evaluation on whether the presence of certain substances in the recycled rubber granules used as infill on artificial turf sports grounds could pose a health risk. Based on this, ECHA will discuss the possible next steps with the Commission.
