BIR Autumn Convention in Munich (24-25 October)
Excellent registration figures as 'early bird' deadline approaches!
As the early-bird registration deadline approaches (15 September 2011) over 600 delegates are already registered and rooms in the Westin Grand are selling out.
With an expected attendance of over 1000 businesspeople, additional rooms in nearby hotels will be proposed by conference organiser CPO Hanser.
“Munich is a very attractive convention destination,” Convention Committee chairman Mark Sellier comments these figures. “This, together with favourable business conditions, explains why we have so many registrations while demand keeps increasing.”
So far, the convention programme foresees interesting guest speakers such as Tata Steel Europe’s CEO Prof. Dr. Karl-Ulrich Köhler and HSBC Trinkaus chief economist Stefan Schilbe during the Ferrous Division plenary meeting. The Non-Ferrous Metals Division has invited John Woehlke, General Manager of Evermore Recycling, an independent company formed by Novelis and Alcoa for the procurement of used aluminium beverage cans.
Moreover, in a special workshop on Monday, 24 October at 17.30 BIR will introduce its new arbitration rules and illustrate the functioning and advantages of the organisation’s arbitration service. The BIR Plastics Committee will dedicate part of their plenary session to a workshop on WEEE with a special focus on plastics, with a guest presentation by Dr Rainer Koehnlechner of Hamos GmbH on “Separation Technologies for Mixed Plastic Scrap from WEEE”. Second guest speaker Tilman Baehr of Hamburg’s Environment Ministry will focus on plastic scrap shipments.
More detailed information on further programmes and additional guest speakers will be sent out in the coming weeks.
A number of companies have already taken advantage of BIR’s sponsorship opportunities, while some attractive packages are still available. If your company is interested in gaining maximum exposure at our upcoming event, don’t hesitate to contact the BIR secretariat (Yolande Joret) for further information.
