Three high-profile guest speakers provide insight into UBC recycling, precious metals and copper
After the successful Symposium on Copper at the last BIR World Recycling Convention in Singapore, the Non-Ferrous Metals Division continues its mission to find high-profile speakers on topics of general interest for businesspeople active in the non-ferrous sector.
For the BIR Autumn Round-Table Sessions, the Non-Ferrous Metals Division under the leadership of Bob Stein (Alter Trading, USA) has invited 3 guest speakers to the divisional plenary session on Monday, 24 October at 14.30:
- John Woehlke, Managing Director of Evermore Recycling LLC (USA), will give a presentation on the recycling of used beverage cans. His company is a new, independent company, formed by Novelis and Alcoa for the procurement of UBCs. In addition to purchasing metal, Evermore Recycling is committed to raising the UBC recycling rate toward the aluminium industry’s objective of 75%.
- Michael J. Jansen, Managing Director and Head of Metals Research, Global Commodities Group at JP Morgan, will be talking about precious metals and precious metals recycling. He will also provide a more global outlook on today's economic situation including a tentative forecast for precious metals demand and prices. J.P. Morgan specializes in providing trading, market-making and associated risk management solutions in precious metals, platinum group metals, base metals, steel and plastics. A leading Ring Dealing Member of the London Metal Exchange, JP Morgan is involved in all aspects of trading and structuring and also publishes leading research, providing both informed views and actionable ideas.
- David Wilson, Director of Metals Research in the Commodities Research team at Société Generale Corporate & Investment Banking (London, UK). His presentation will be on copper, future demand in copper and risk for substitution due to high prices etc. Mr Wilson is responsible for short-term and long-term base metals forecasting and analysis, and he joined Société Générale Corporate & Investment Banking in 2008, with 14 years of experience as an economist/analyst largely covering metals and energy markets.
