Ferrous Division: Two excellent speakers confirmed
After the huge success of its last plenary session, where keynote speaker Jim Rogers attracted over 400 delegates, the BIR Ferrous Division has again secured two high-profile speakers who will provide very interesting insights and information regarding their respective fields of expertise.
Professor Dr. Karl-Ulrich Köhler is Managing Director and CEO of Tata Steel Europe Ltd and one of the most influential people of the steel sector. Before joining Tata Steel Europe in 2010, he was Chairman of the Executive Board of ThyssenKrupp Steel and Member of the Executive Board of the parent company, ThyssenKrupp AG. He is also board member of the Worldsteel Association and Vice President of Eurofer.
Prof. Dr Köhler’s speech will be about “Championing the sustainability of steel”.
The Division’s second guest speaker has already enlightened BIR delegates at past conventions: Stefan Schilbe, Chief Economist and Head of Treasury Research at HSBC Trinkaus & Burkhardt AG. His unique analytical skills based on the most recent economic and financial data provide the audience with valuable trend indicators for the coming months.
In his speech entitled “The global economy on the brink of a new recession? The perspectives for 2012” Mr Schilbe will address amongst others the following topics:
- US: household deleveraging to continue – is the Fed running out of ammunition?
- Eurozone: debt crisis darkens the outlook – quick fixes needed?
- China to rescue the world economy? Will inflation fall enough for the PBOC to loosen its monetary policy?
In addition to the the two guest speakers, delegates will hear up-to-date market reports from different world regions (USA, Pacific Rim, Europe, Japan, India, Russia and Ukraine).
The Ferrous Division plenary meeting will take place on Tuesday, 25 October at 11.00 at the Westin Grand Munich.
