BIR signs memorandum of cooperation with CMRA

The Non-Ferrous Metals Division of the Bureau of International Recycling has signed a memorandum of cooperation with the China Non-Ferrous Metals Industry Association Recycling Metal Branch in order to officialise their excellent cooperation over recent years.

In the framework of the CMRA 11^th Secondary Metals International Forum/Exhibition & Trade Fair from 7^thto 9^th November 2011 in Guangzhou, BIR Director General Francis Veys signed the memorandum on behalf of the Non-Ferrous Metals Division and its President Bob Stein who was unable to attend. He made a short speech in which he thanked CMRA for their hospitality and pointed out the importance of China as a leading international business partner for the world recycling industry.

The aim of the memorandum is that the two organisations facilitate and encourage the development of the secondary non-ferrous metals industry, with a special focus on strengthening the exchange of industrial information, delegations and convention/exhibition services and to facilitate contacts with governmental authorities.

In the afternoon, BIR Ambassador for China David Chiao gave a presentation on behalf of Bob Stein regarding the situation on the international non-ferrous markets.

BIR Director General Francis Veys then continued his trip to Shanghai, the BIR Convention venue for May 2013.
