BIR Paper Division:
Panel on Factors that cause movements in the recovered paper markets

The plenary session of BIR’s Paper Division on Monday, 25 October 2010 at 2.30 pm will be held under the motto: Factors that cause movements in the recovered paper markets.

Divisional President Mr Ranjit S. Baxi of J&H Sales International Ltd (UK) has invited experts from different organisations who will tackle the issues from their respective angle.

Bill Moore is President of Moore & Associates, an international consulting firm engaged in providing a range of market research and strategic services to the global paper recycling industry. Prior to his many years as a consultant, he held a series of positions in the solid waste, paper and recycling industries. These included founder and vice president of Paper Recycling International (a joint venture of Stone Container) and the first director of recycling for Waste Management, Inc.

Ilpo Ervasti is an independent consultant with extensive experience in the paper industry. He worked 20 years (1989 - 2010) in Pöyry Forest Industry Consulting, during the last years as a Leading Advisor. Mr Ervasti has 30 years experience in market and business opportunity studies as well as raw material availability studies in the forest industry (recovered paper, pulp and paper) and related fields worldwide. Within the organisation of Pöyry Forest Industry Consulting Mr Ervasti was in charge of recovered paper strategies including supply and demand issues as well as forecasting and sourcing. At present he is an independent advisor and a doctoral candidate in Aalto University researching recovered paper related issues.

Peter Hall is presently the Managing Director of APL Liner Shipping in the UK & Ireland, having been appointed to this position in 2002 and subsequently also assuming responsibility for the APL Logistics business in 2005 until 2008. Having joined APL in its European Regional head office in 2000 as Director Global Sales, he was responsible for the management of global clients principally located in the UK and German markets, during which time his notable achievements were securing “first time” business from both BMW and Daimler Chrysler.

During the plenary meeting, the BIR Ferrous Division will also grant the Papyrus Award, in recognition of an organisation’s/corporation’s contribution to the paper recycling industry. The recipient of this award will be announced in a separate release.
