Ferrous Division: Jason Schenker provides "Outlook for Ferrous Markets in a Climate of Global Economic Uncertainty"
If anybody in the ferrous scrap business wants to know where the markets are heading, attending the next Ferrous Division in Berlin is a must!
One of the world’s most prominent economic forecasters is the central speaker of the divisional plenary meeting during the upcoming World Recycling Convention & Exhibition in Berlin (29 May – 1 June 2016). On Monday, 30 May at 9.30, Mr Jason Schenker of Prestige Economics (USA) will share his expectations for ferrous markets, including fundamental, macroeconomic, and financial market risks that drive supply, demand, and prices.
This key presentation is set before the backdrop of global market reports provided by the divisional board members under the presidency of Bill Schmiedel, Sims Metal Management Global Trade (USA), and will be followed by a panel discussion and interactive Q&A with the audience.
Mr Schenker, who had already impressed BIR delegates during his highly acclaimed keynote presentation at our 2014 Miami Convention, was ranked the most-accurate industrial metals price forecaster in the world by Bloomberg News in 2015 and 2011. He is also the author of two best-selling books: Commodity Prices 101 and Recession-Proof.
Mr. Schenker is the founder and president of Prestige Economics, one of the most important commodity and financial research firms in the world. Thanks to the accuracy of his forecasts, Mr. Schenker has become a regular commentator for leading business media such as The Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg News. He also regularly attends exclusive OPEC and Fed meetings, and he frequently presents to central banks, governmental bodies, and industry groups. Mr. Schenker has also worked for McKinsey & Company as a Risk Specialist and Senior Consultant and for Wachovia as an economist.
During the plenary session, BIR Statistics Advisor Rolf Willeke will also present the 7th edition of “World Steel Recycling in Figures 2011-2015”, for which a separate press release will be issued at a later stage.
BIR extends its special thanks to the companies whose financial involvement has made Mr Schenker’s presence possible: SIMS METAL MANAGEMENT, SA RECYCLING, TSR THE METAL COMPANY, NATHANI GROUP OF COMPANIES and SCHNITZER STEEL INDUSTRIES INC..
