Stainless Steel & Special Alloys Committee: "The World Nickel Market: Trends and Perspectives"
Guest presentation by Director of Market Research and Statistics of International Nickel Study Group, followed by fireside chat with famous economic forecaster Jason Schenker
The Stainless Steel & Special Alloys Committee under the chairmanship of Joost van Kleef of Oryx Stainless (NED) will be offering attending delegates a very interesting programme during their plenary session at the BIR World Recycling Convention & Exhibition in Berlin (29 May – 1 June 2016).
Main guest speaker of the session, which will take place on Monday, 30 May at 14.30, is Mr Salvatore Pinizzotto, Director of Market Research and Statistics at the International Nickel Study Group (INSG), an autonomous intergovernmental organisation and the sole multi-lateral institution dedicated to issues affecting nickel production, usage and trade. His presentation will put nickel into the spotlight of the session, with a presentation that analyses trends and perspectives regarding the global nickel market.
Mr Pinizzotto is an economist and has more than 20 years experience as market research specialist and consultant for the specialty steel industry in Europe and worldwide. He has previously worked for ILVA, ThyssenKrupp Acciai Speciali Terni (Italy), Inco Europe Ltd (United Kingdom) a subsidiary of Inco Ltd (today Vale) and the International Lead and Zinc Study Group (ILZSG- United Kingdom). He has an MBA from The Huron University USA in London associated with Southern New Hampshire.
Following his presentation, Mr Pinizzotto will engage in a ‘fireside chat’ with Mr Jason Schenker, one of the world’s most prominent economic forecasters who is the main speaker at the Ferrous Division plenary meeting taking place earlier on the same day. Mr Schenker has kindly agreed to interact with Mr Pinizzotto and the audience, sharing his profound knowledge of the commodities markets, which will contribute to a lively and highly interesting discussion on nickel and stainless steel in the current economic context.
Mr Schenker, founder and president of Prestige Economics (USA), who had already impressed BIR delegates during his highly acclaimed keynote presentation at our 2014 Miami Convention, was ranked the most-accurate industrial metals price forecaster in the world by Bloomberg News in 2015 and 2011. He is also the author of two best-selling books: Commodity Prices 101 and Recession-Proof.
